The IntelliFlo® VS+SVRS variable speed pump is the revolutionary way to reduce energy costs and provide the safest possible pool environment. This “intelligent” pump can cut the pool portion of utility bills up to 90%, saving you hundreds of dollars per year and thousands over its life. This pump features a built-in Safety Vacuum Release System (SVRS) that senses drain blockage and automatically shuts the pump off to provide an important layer of protection against entrapment.

Safety Vacuum Release Systems provide a layer of protection against certain entrapment risks. They react to changes in vacuum (main drains and other suction pressure sources).
The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act was recently enacted into law. The Act, which will be administered by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), imposes mandatory requirements for suction entrapment avoidance.

When is comes to pool safety, multiple layers of protection are crucial. That is one of the reasons why on December 19,2007, President George W. Bush signed the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act of 2007. The act is intended to increase the safety of swimming pools and spas by motivating states to pass laws that incorporate layers of protection in order to help prevent drowning, drain entrapment and hair entanglements.
The Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act is named for the grandaughter of former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III. In 2002 at the age of seve, Graeme Baker died in a spa after the powerful suction of a drain entrapped her under water. Baker joined Nancy Baker, Graeme’s mother, and Safe Kids USA in a three- Year advocacy campaign for this legislation
